The third incarnation of Lord Vishnu in the Satya Yuga. When the demon Hiranyaksha dragged the Earth (personified as Goddess Bhumi Devi) into the dark depths of the Garbhodaka Ocean, Vishnu manifested as a massive boar. He fought the demon, lifted the Earth out of the abyss, and placed it back into its cosmic orbit on His glowing tusks.

"Standing in the causal ocean, the Lord lifted the earth goddess upon his curved tusks, shining like the sun emerging from dark clouds."
Restoring balance and protecting the fertile divine feminine
Diti, the mother of the Asuras, gave birth to two twin demon brothers of immense strength: Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashipu. By performing extreme penances to Lord Brahma, they gained immense power and boons that made them nearly invincible. Hiranyaksha, the elder brother, took control of the heavens and challenged the gods.
In his arrogance, Hiranyaksha seized the Earth (Bhumi Devi) and dragged her down into the dark abyss of the Garbhodaka cosmic ocean, disrupting the gravitational balance of the universe and threatening all of creation.
Seeing the Earth submerged in the dark abyss, the creator Lord Brahma prayed to Lord Vishnu for help. From Brahma's nostril emerged a tiny, thumb-sized white boar. As Brahma watched, the boar grew within seconds to become a gargantuan beast, as large as a mountain, with eyes like blazing fires. This was Varaha, the divine boar avatar of Vishnu.
Varaha plunged deep into the causal ocean. Finding Bhumi Devi at the bottom, He gently sat her upon His curved tusks. As He rose to the surface, he was confronted by Hiranyaksha. A fierce duel ensued between the Lord and the demon. Varaha eventually struck down the demon, restored the Earth to its proper orbit, and blessed Bhumi Devi. Varaha represents the protector of ecological balance, the defender of the weak, and the divine support that lifts human consciousness from the depths of dark despair.
